It was not exactly a chance meeting in Bangalore, India, that led to a firm friendship between two great minds. Bai Shi Yin Guang Bo was attending the International Conference on Medicinal Plants & Drug Discovery on 18th to 20th July 2018 in Bangalore as a keynote speaker where she delivered her paper on “Light-transmuting Medicinal Plants to Reduce Pest & Disease Infestations and Residual Pesticides”. In the audience was Professor (Dr) K.M. Patel, Principal “(Retd) of Municipal Arts and Urban Bank Science College, Mehsana, Gujarat, India. After listening attentively, he approached her at the end of her presentation to personally inquire more details into the Light-transmuting process and Bai Shi Yin Agriculture Technology. At the end of the engagement, he gave Bai Shi Yin Guang Bo the following commendation: “A practical scientist who is full of loving heart “.
In 2019, Dr K.M. Patel was helping to organise an international conference in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He was the Convenor of the 29th APSI SCIENTIST MEET & INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE on “Drug Discovery and Development in Agrotechnology and Pharmaceutical Sciences”, organised by Gujarat’s SMT. N. M. Padalia Pharmacy College in collaboration with Academy of Plant Sciences, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India and Global Agrobiotech and Pharma Research Foundation, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. To be held from 23rd to 25th November 2019, Dr K.M. Patel contacted Bai Shi Yin in May 2019 to invite her to participate.
Bai Shi Yin’s calendar for November 2019 was already heavily scheduled and it would be understandable if she were to decline the invitation, especially of the extra days involved in flying out of Singapore, where she is based, to India. However, she deeply remembered the engagement, notwithstanding that it was very brief, she had with Dr K.M. Patel in Bangalore and especially felt grateful for his kind commendation. She accepted the invitation although it meant she had to make major adjustments to her heavy schedule, driven by her conviction to express her gratitude to Dr K.M. Patel. It is a true reflection of living up to her own adage that she has always espoused – “Requite with a gushing spring of gratefulness for even the tiniest droplet of assistance received”.
After her acceptance of the invitation, Dr K.M. Patel honoured her by requesting her to be the international member of the Advisory Committee to the Conference. She was also requested to present a paper and she accepted the invitation, selecting to present on “Positive Energy Agricultural Bio-Innovation Technology”. On the first day of the conference, the Organising Committee surprised her by inviting her on stage to join the panel of VIPs and subsequently bestowed on her with two additional honours , the Key Speaker and the Guest-of-Honour accolades.
Like many of her presentations in other international conferences and global summit, Bai Shi Yin Guang Bo’s session was well-received by the participants, with many of them professors and doctorate holders from the academia. They gathered around Bai Shi Yin at the end of her sessions to inquire into more details regarding the applications of Positive Energy Agricultural Bio-Innovation Technology.
On 24th November 2019, at the Valedictory Session of the Conference, to her total surprise, the Global Agrobiotech and Pharma Research Foundation’s “International Woman Scientist” Award was conferred on Bai Shi Yin Guang Bo, making a total of four accolades. As if this was still not enough, on 25th November 2019, at a post conference gathering in her honour, Bai Shi Yin Guang Bo was made the first “International Ambassador” of Global Agrobiotech and Pharma Research Foundation.
In accepting a simple invitation to participate in an international conference driven only by her sheer wish to express her gratitude to Dr K.M. Patel, Bai Shi Yin Guang Bo was honoured with a total of completely unexpected five accolades. This is indeed a demonstration of Bai Shi Yin’s aphorism that one sincerely should never expect anything in return for rendering good deeds or in expressing one’s gratitude.
This aphorism is covered as Aphorism 1 in her published book of Bai Shi Yin Wisdom-Light Aphorisms Volume 1:
A requiting heart of gratitude is the key to success.
The corollary of this Aphorism is in the epilogue of
Bai Shi Wisdom-Light Aphorisms Volume 2
A requiting heart of gratitude is the enduring road of success
